Planning & JSA

When the Job Changes, the JSA Changes

“Does today’s JSA still describe the work happening right now?”

STOP • REASSESS • COMMUNICATE

A JSA is a live conversation, not a form completed at the start of shift. When conditions, people, tools, or the sequence of work change, stop and bring the plan up to date.

  1. 01Pause when the scope, location, equipment, weather, or crew changes.
  2. 02Identify the new hazards before work resumes.
  3. 03Update controls and confirm everyone understands them.
  4. 04Give every crew member authority to call the stop.
TAKEAWAYIf the work changes, stop, reassess, and update the JSA.
